Psychedelic Integration & Preparation

Steven O' Riordan, Psychotherapist, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Integration Online

Deepen Your Insights

Whether you are considering a psychedelic or plant medicine journey, preparing for an experience, or making sense of one afterwards, integration can be an important part of the process.

I offer online psychedelic preparation and integration therapy. These experiences can be meaningful, challenging, confusing, destabilising, or deeply transformative. While plant medicines may open a door to new perspectives and experiences, they do not do the healing for us. Rather, they can bring us into contact with ourselves as we are - sometimes revealing what has been present beneath the surface.

Integration offers a supportive space to reflect on what emerged, make sense of your experience, and explore what you may want to carry forward.

A breakthrough isn't the finish line - but integration can help turn insight into meaningful change.

What is Psychedelic Integration?

Psychedelic integration is the process of exploring, understanding, and gradually bringing the insights and experiences of a psychedelic journey into your daily life.

My approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing on parts work, somatic embodiment, and relational psychotherapy, while holding space for the symbolic, spiritual, and deeply personal dimensions that can emerge through psychedelic experiences.

Healing isn't a single session or one-time fix. It is a much larger arc, one that may span lifetimes and touch generations to come.

Integration is not about finding one definitive meaning or explanation for what happened. Instead, it offers space to stay curious about your experience, explore what it may be asking of you, and discover how its insights might be embodied and lived in the here and now.

What Happens in an Integration Session?

Before a journey, we can set your intentions, explore any hopes or concerns, and support you in preparing for the experience.

Afterwards, we reflect on what emerged through psychological, emotional, relational, symbolic, and spiritual lenses, without rushing to explain or pathologise your experience.

Together, we make sense of your journey, deepen your understanding, and explore practical ways to integrate its insights into daily life.

The experience may open the door. Integration is part of what happens when you choose to walk through it.

Psychedelic Informed Therapy

Psychedelic experiences can open doors and sometimes bring forward deep emotional material, unresolved experiences, or new ways of understanding yourself. Integration and psychotherapy can provide ongoing support as you explore these insights and their meaning in your life.

The intention is not to chase the next experience, but to allow your journey to become a catalyst for your developing healing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact me if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I offer individual sessions at an exchange of €100 for 90 minutes. I find that the additional time can be valuable, creating space to prepare for an experience, explore what is unfolding, and integrate afterwards without the pressure of the standard therapy hour.

For couples who wish to prepare for or integrate a psychedelic experience, sessions are offered at an exchange of €120 for 90 minutes and are available online by appointment.

Where appropriate, I may offer individual sessions to each person within a couple, providing space for each person to explore their own experience and process. If this feels supportive, we can discuss it openly and agree a clear arrangement from the outset.

The duration of our work together is guided by you and what feels most appropriate for your needs.

Our initial session offers an opportunity for us to explore what has brought you to this way of working, and to gain greater clarity around your intentions for healing - whether that relates to relationships, trauma recovery, embodiment, ancestral healing, or something else.

From there, we can mutually decide what our time together might look like. For some, this may be a single session to clarify intentions or explore a particular question; for others, it may involve a deeper process unfolding over a number of sessions.

There is no fixed pathway. We will listen to what emerges through our conversation and connection, and allow the work to take shape around what you need.

As our work together unfolds, I may suggest resources or practices to support and deepen your integration. These will be tailored to your individual needs and circumstances and might include reading, contemplative practices, reflective writing, creative exercises, engaged action, poetry, music, or other relevant material.

The intention is not to give you more to do, but to offer invitations for further reflection, exploration and integration between sessions.

Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and Integration - Disclaimer

Psychedelic substances remain illegal in Ireland, and I do not provide, supply, or encourage the use of these substances.

I recognise that some people choose to explore psychedelic experiences, including through travel to places where these practices are legally available. My work is based on a harm reduction and trauma-informed approach, offering support for preparation, reflection, and integration for those who choose to pursue these experiences independently.

My role is to support safety, wellbeing, and meaningful integration through psychotherapy. I do not facilitate psychedelic experiences or provide access to psychedelic substances.

Only one aspect of our being grows and is satisfied by the purely rational– the scientific, the factual, the historical. Another great part of ourselves needs the nourishment of the trans-rational– the aesthetic, poetic, mythic sides of life that cannot be fully explained or described by the mind.
